According to Moonalice legend, it has been sixty years since the band beyond description played its first show. From the Acid Tests to the Human Be In, from Woodstock to Europe ‘72, Watkins Glen, the Wall of Sound, Egypt, Cornell, Englishtown, the taper section, the tour with Dylan, Telluride, all the way to Soldiers Field, the Grateful Dead blazed a trail. To one degree or another of us are part of the story, which continued here in San Francisco less than two weeks ago with Grahame’s Heart of Town shows at Pier 48 (sponsored by the Giants!) and Dead & Company’s triumphant shows in Golden Gate Park.
Moonalice first played here at the ballpark in 2012 … and this is our 11th Grateful Dead or Jerry Garcia night. Each time, Chris Shaw has created a brilliant poster. And each time until last year, Bill Walton was here to celebrate with us. Let us take a moment to remember Bill and also Phil Lesh, who died earlier this year. Both Bill and Phil enriched our lives in ways beyond description.
