According to Moonalice legend, the new year engenders feelings of optimism. God knows that optimism is welcome any time, but especially now.
In China, 2026 will be the year of the horse, so it is fitting that we kick the year off at the Felton Music Hall. Those of you with long memories will recall the days when this hall bore the name of its owner, Don Quixote. Tonight’s poster by Alexandra Fischer depicts Don’s horse Rocinante, who used to tend bar.
In her spare time, Rocinante is a master cultivator of our favorite herb. Her crop this year was so good that everyone thought she deserved an award of some kind. So Sancho Panza told her that China dedicated the coming year in the calendar to her. Because it is a new year, she believed him.
