Moonalice Will Be Jamming Out At The Ballpark on Jerry Day!

On August 1 at 6pm Pacific, Moonalice will throw the first chord in AT&T Park for Jerry Garcia's 70th Birthday Celebration as the SF Giants take on the NY Mets. As thousands of fans celebrate the 70th Birthday of legendary musician and San Francisco Native Jerry Garcia in the stadium, so will thousands of fans around the world who will be watching the show broadcast live via satellite uplink.

Watching nearly all of Moonalice shows live in HD on both desktop and mobile is something that Moonalice’s fans have come to appreciate and enjoy as the band and their leader Roger McNamee, aka Chubby Wombat, continue to push the envelope on bringing their music live to fans wherever in the world they happen to be.

In June Moonalice released their new MoonTunes® player for iPhone/iPad. MoonTunes® is an HTML 5 player that allows fans to access the Couch Tour, the band’s 160 show video archive, their 450 show audio archive, and their entire series of 500 posters ... all for free!

Referring to MoonTunes® Roger McNamee said, “This is a "beta" version, which means it will get a lot better, but it already gives you one touch access to everything we have created, so we're letting it out of the cage. If you have an iPhone or iPad, just go to http://www.moonalice.com. It will offer you the opportunity to "Launch Beta iPhone/iPad Player." Press that link. When the app boots, touch the Arrow button to the left of the URL bar and "Add to Home Screen." That will put an icon on your home screen that makes our player behave like a native iOS app . . . only faster.”

Responding to vociferous demand from their Android-using fans, a beta version for Android has now been developed and is currently being tested and receiving rave reviews.

Commenting on Moonalice’s use of satellite broadcast, in a recent TV interview, Roger said, “A satellite is the reason we can get HD quality over 3G. We're the only people in the world. We have a patent applied for there. And I just did it because I wanted to see what you could do in HTML5.”

For the Jerry Day show Moonalice will be playing some of Jerry's most famous hits throughout his illustrious career, and will be broadcasting using a new satellite system from ViaSat which is able to be packed and transported in a small suitcase as opposed to a truck, and which has twice the upload capability of their previous system.

The audience on this historic occasion will not be limited to those lucky enough to be in AT&T Park. The audience will be global and they will be watching cultural and mobile broadcast history unfold - on their desktops, their laptops and their mobile devices. A fitting tribute to the man who would have been 70 years old on August 1, and who once said, ”Our strong suit is what we do, and our audience.”
