Subject: Heads up from Roger McNamee

Dear Bob,

For the past 18 months, we have been developing a new website for Moonalice that would be optimized for mobile devices. It turns out we were ahead of our time, but the first phase of the site has just gone to open beta.

If you would like to see it, go to http://beta.moonalice.com

Please be aware that Apple does not support Flash and its support of HTML 5 is currently quite lame. You will discover to your annoyance that the Music Player will only play one song at a time on an iPhone or iPad. If you want to listen to the whole show, you have to press each song. Sadly, this is the state of the art.

HOWEVER . . . we think we have figured out a workaround! Be patient while we work this out.

There are other annoying limitations of HTML 5 on iPhones and iPads. We apologize in advance for not being able to list them all.

We started this project 18 months ago with the goal of making all of our content available to fans. Pretty early in the project, we realized that the traditional design of websites - with separate pages for music, video, blog updates, etc. - was not going to work for us. We settled on the idea of a "control panel" model, where the fan would spend most of his or her time on one page and we would serve the content they desire. The traditional tools of web development made this possible on a PC or Mac, but not on smartphones, whose share of internet devices now exceeds PCs.

According to Moonalice legend, the band is answering the call of the north. For the first time in nearly two years, we are heading up to Alaska ... this time for three ACOUSTIC shows!!! John Molo's mother is very ill, so the rest of us are going to take our acoustic act up north for what promises to be a very good time.

We will not be able to satellite broadcasts, but there is a chance we can do a livestream to PCs/Macs for the Juneau shows.

We just heard that Saturday's gig at Dead on the Mountain has been cancelled. The promoter's permit was pulled. We are disappointed about this, but powerless to do anything about it.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

According to Moonalice legend, the Sellersville Theater is one of our favorite venues. The room sounds fantastic, which makes for much better shows. We think this one really shows off the band well.

According to Moonalice legend, playing gigs on Monday night is generally a bad idea. Playing at exactly the time of the NCAA men's basketball final should be a kiss of death. Not at the IOTA in Arlington. For the second straight time we played the IOTA on a Monday night and a great time was had by all. I have no idea who won the game.

so on February 26, just weeks after a terrorist attacked Rep. Gabby Giffords and a group of constituents outside a local Safeway. Several of the victims were at our show, which gave us a very special energy. We played Hallelujah for Rep. Giffords.
